May postponed to June

We are postponing May's meeting until June 28, 2007. We will meet at Galileo's in the Paseo District. We will be discussing the realties of global slave trade and its presence in OKC. If you are interested, check out www.notforsalecampaign.org. Sorry if postponing causes an inconvenience to anyone.

Wow -- nearly a month and no comments. It makes me wonder if this group is "going anywhere." If it is, where? I plan to be at the next meeting, and I don't want this group to die for lack of interest.

Personally, I just appreciate the relaxed fellowship. That's enough to keep me plugged in.

I like the group. It is hard to come open up and feel comfortable meeting only monthly. Also I guess I envisioned more doing. Like the stuff in the back of How (Not) To Speak About God. If you have read Blue Like Jazz I like the confession booth. That was a cool idea. Another issue is we talk about a safe place to express belief, but I always feel like I have defend what I say. I don't want to defend, I just want to share and hear. Maybe we are just bad at asking for further explination, but I mostly think it is more about how we are trained to communicate. It is hard to just hear, and not defend.

I do appreciate the way Chip and a few others actually respond to posts on here. I think that helps build a sense of group connection that just can't happen in a once a month meeting.

Hey there! I am moving to the area from Duncan the middle of next month. I won't be able to make it the June meeting, but I will try to make it to the July meeting. Don't give up guys, just keep being faithful to the conversation.

I plan to attend. I could use the break from preparing for my biblical language proficiency exams for the doctoral program I am about to begin. Even an introvert like me needs to be around people every once in a while :-)

Hey -- can I assume we'll meet at 7 PM?

Where was everyone???

Chip, myself, and a young woman who was interested in this group had some good discussions, but I was really hoping to meet the rest of you all.

Oh well, maybe some other time.

So, are you guys meeting this month? I should be moved up to the area within the next 3 weeks and I am really looking forward to checking this thing out.

Wow....things kind of puttered out after the May posting. I think if things could be put together now, as Fall has fallen, I think there would be a better response.

I loved Jeff's comment (second comment in this thread). There's enough of us to do this with little time, little money, just the desire and will to put it all together. Many of us NEED this in OKC. Let's do it!!

Just thought I would come back all this time later (nobody ever even bothered to answer my post) and tell you all to read Christopher Hitchens book, "God Is Not Great." You'll finally realize hanging on to Christianity is ridiculous in the 21st century.
